Window Treatments

We will probably go with Bali "Cellular" shades, carried by JC Penny. The 3/8" double cell, room darkening, or blackout shade looks good for bedrooms, because it provides light blocking/filtering, sound absorption, and better insulation.

The single cell shade will probably suffice elsewhere.

Shades come in a variety of colors. There are also options for bottom up/top down shades, which would be good to have in places like the great room and den/office, as well as the Master Bath.

Penny's provides a means of comparing the features and advantages of various types of window treatments here.

In the two south-west facing rooms -- the front den and the hall bedroom -- we will probably use a grommet-hung pinch pleat hanging thermal drape to block light for sleeping, and to limit solar heat gain in the room (see JC Penny windows and drapes).
